10 tips for a more sustainable beauty routine

The beauty industry has been guilty of producing a lot of waste, but the tide is changing thanks to the consumers demanding more sustainable products. From recyclable packaging to reducing beauty miles, read on to discover simple tips on how to become part of the sustainable beauty revolution!

  1. Ditch single-use sheet masks and face wipes or cotton pads. Instead, buy powder masks and reusable face cloth. Dry powder masks are a great alternative to sheet masks, you can customise them to your own requirements by using your favourite oil or floral water to make them up! While face cloth can be used to remove makeup, apply cleansing balms and oils and gently exfoliate at the same time.

  2. Pay attention to beauty packaging. Are your products supplied in recyclable or reusable containers? How about going a step further and using products packaged in compostable cartons? You can even have a go at upcycling your empties! Bunch glass bottles make for beautiful mini flower vases while our compostable shakers make great planters for propagating seeds.

  3. Refrain from using products in excessive packaging. Stop and think whether you really need a cellophane or tissue paper that may look pretty, but is used for seconds and then discarded.

  4. Switch to waterless or powder beauty products. Check our other blog post to find out why waterless beauty and powder beauty products are an eco-friendly and sustainable alternative to traditional water-based skincare and haircare.

  5. Buy your beauty products from local suppliers and makers and reduce beauty miles and carbon footprint.

  6. Buy organic products or products made from organic ingredients. It is a well-known fact that industrial farming using an incredible amount of chemicals is bad for the planet and very bad indeed for pollinators. Help the bees by buying organic beauty products from Bunch! With every purchase, you'll receive wildflower seeds to grow your own bunch and help the pollinators thrive.

  7. Buy beauty products that are vegan and not tested on animals. Animals don't have to suffer so we can look beautiful!

  8. Slow down, buy one product at a time, test it, give it time to work and enjoy. This way, you'll reduce the waste.

  9. Switch to solid shampoos and conditioners. They tend to be much milder to your scalp and hair, are supplied in plastic-free containers and last much longer than their liquid equivalents.
